just wondering if tinted windows was a standard option with the car. i saw those port pics of the orange msp's and i didn't see any with tint. anyway, just wondering.
this is my first post on these boards. i'm pretty excited to be a future msp owner. actually went down to my local mazda dealership this afternoon to put down my deposit. one of the fleet managers told me that their dealership would be getting the most msp's in CA, about a dozen, and that they were expecting them around the 2nd week of December. i'm only the 3rd person to put down a deposit so there's more left to go around. it's IRVINE MAZDA btw. well, glad to be a part of this forum.:)

Welcome to the board! You will be getting the official welcome from Sir Nuke here pretty soon, so stay tunned! As for the tent, most factory cars do not come with that option. You can get it thrown into the deal though, and they will take it to a aftermarket tint place, and get it tinted. Not sure how Irvine Mazda operates though...me being in Texas.

I have managed to get the snow tires from my dealer, due to a bet I had with them :D
As for window tint, are most people going with black tint? I have seen some colored tints, but don't know how they would look on the MSP, I have seen yellow, blue and the fades from silver to whatever color, but without having the MSP to place the film next to it would be tough to decide. Any opinions?
only one color is going to suit orange....black. Anything else is going to look really ricey

if you take a look at the exterior section, you'll see that tint is a part of the package, i think. so i guess i answered my own question already. also, i wonder what "Sport pink smoke tail lights" really look like.

Tinted glass and tinted windows are two different things. tinted glass usually means the glass it self has a slight tint to it or as in most cases just the windshield has a bit of tint at the top, that is what is commonly refered to as tinted glass.
Tinted windows on the hand would be full window tints.

well you have to pay extra for a perimeter alarm system, or does that come standard, anyone know about this?

Krillin, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.
make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!!
your question about tint has already been answered so no need to go into that......

Nuke,
Can I ask as to the origin of the welcome? I've seen it a bunch of times now and I'm just wondering how you decided on the fridges, putting your feet up, etc.
(Also, I never got such a welcome and I have to say, I'm a bit jealous and a touch hurt. *sniff, sniff*)
I never got a greeting either, but then again I was here before Sir Nuke so maybe I owe him one: Might be a bit late but...

krillin and Colin,
Been out of town and am excited to hear about recent (Canadian) deliveries of msp's. Like you both, I've called (just today, infact) and spoken to my Fleet guy Nick (Phuong) Knight. I've dropped by and spoken to Greg as well. Nick says MAYBE by end of next week with deliveries of new cars occurring "every one or two weeks.." Seems they had a delivery of cars just before Turkey day and may get more next week. Krillin may be correct in assuming a handful of cars coming soon. 10? Nick says that Colin and I are probably assured msp's since we put our deposits down in Sept. and Oct. Digi168's recent posts have once again wet my appetite w/his outstanding pix. R U getting a orange or black msp? Colin and I are lookin' for the black models. Still don't know if the stitching matches the exterior paint, since all indications and pictures of the orange model do. Maybe once owned we could all get together to compare rides. R U in Irvine? I'm in Orange. Colin's in South County/San Clemente, I think.

jpblack,
yeh, phong told me that they'd get about half a dozen to a dozen msp's. i am also getting the black mica. i live in ladera ranch so i think i'm pretty close to colin. about 2 min ago i got a call from some woman from CUSH mazda saying THE car arrived. i was thinking it was too good to be true and it was when she mentioned i'd be able to test drive the "MAZDA 6". :wtf:
then i told her that i was wanted the mazdaspeed protege and not the 6. she apologized and hung up. hahah
anyway, i'm really anxious to get this car. one problem tho, i'm a novice at driving a manual.

Ladera Ranch....nice hood! Seriously, yeah you and Colin are practically next to one another. Cush Mazda? is that in South County or Tustin? Too funny about the M6, although I look forward to when they make a MS6 model....probably mid-03 I'm told. As far as drivin a stick. I'd recommend you learn now on someone else's car. Wouldn't want you to "grind to find" on the precious heavy duty clutch plate of the msp. Just take it slow and don't redline otherwise you'll blow an engine that requires breakin' in. Better yet, if you'd like..i'll break it in for you. Can't have too many msp's. Sounds like we all want black models. Fortunately they've made 3 times as many as the pumpkin orange color. Parents buying you a car??

i'm actually paying for the car. only thing is i didnt want to have to try so hard to get a low interest rate so i decided to apply for and equity loan to pay it off. when i go to the dealer i'll be paying for the whole thing there. hopefully i'll be able to use that as a bargaining tool.
JPBlackMP5

Hopefully your equity loan has a smaller interest rate than what MazdaUSA is currently offering: 5% or less (depends on your credit rating). Otherwise, I don't think they'll budge with the MSRP tag. Good luck.
JasonH
12-04-2002, 12:22 PM
Ahh, but the interest on the equity line would be tax deductible...
krillin
12-04-2002, 02:40 PM
yeh, jasonh is right. i don't think all of it is tax deductable but some or most of it is. i think the only way to get 5% is if you have near perfect credit. realistically, i'd say the best rate a person with decent credit could get is 7%.
personally, i think financing through a dealership should be your last resort. i'd go through either an e-loan or try my bank first before i'd even think about going through the dealer. it's just one of the ways dealers can fool you, making you think like you're getting a low rate and then add on fees someplace else so that they still make money.
my mom was trying to lease a 2000 toyota corolla (ve model), which ended up being around 16k, i think (when it should have been around 13k). they made her put 1500 down, 60 month lease paying 250 a month. then you gotta add the residual which i don't even know what it was. but you get the picture. major scam right there. i went with her the next day to cancel the lease.
i don't know. i try to be careful with salespeople. that's why i am dealing through the fleet manager. they always seem straight forward with you.

Krillin,
fortunately, my credit rating is excellent. I anticipate a 5% auto loan thru Mazda. I see your point otherwise. Phoung/Nick has been straightforward and assures me that it's not a problem, since they have my paperwork on my July credit rating when I purchased the P5 at Irvine, Mazda.

Have you guys heard anything new from Greg or Phong lately? I haven't bothered to call or email yet. Hopefully we'll see something in the next week or 2. Also, who's first and who's second in line?

spoke with Phoung on the 5th without any new info other than his assurance that "you'll probably be getting one, since there's [reportedly] only been a few deposits put down for the msp.." He claimed that a new shipment of cars comes every 1-2 weeks and they just received one on the 29th of November. He's pushing the Mazda6, which is already on the salesfloors. As far as "who's on 1st and what's on 2nd" - Colin put his deposit down 1st, then me, allegedly another for an orange model, then you. I don't know what to believe anymore. Like Sir Nuke asserts: "I'll believe it when I see it" (my apologies for any mis-paraphrasing, Sir N)
