is painting parts to match this car going to be as simple as getting the paint code? If someone matched the paint code is it gonna have the metallic luster and big flakes and gold appearance in bright light etc etc?

after getting the paint code, i would go to a dealership and see if they could order the EXACT paint used for the MSP and then Painting is easy... the hardest part is getting the paint

With the color code, you can go to any car paint store and they can do the paint for you. If I remember well the look of that paint when I saw the MSP at the Montreal auto show, this paint is a 3 coats system. It's more expensive to get this kind of color on a car. Usualy for those kind of paint, you have a base color, in this case a flat orange, like you can see under the hood, that's the first coat. The second coat is for the spicy effect, the gold metalic flakes. And the 3thrd and final coat is the clear coat.

You have to find a good paint shop to do those kind of color. A bad shop can mess the job easealy.

In real, it's a realy beautiful color! (thumb)

JrTekSilverP5, I think the P5 in that color will look very good and since it's a P5, you will not look like a MSP wanabe! :D

thanx for the info and the support Stou...

by the way Stou... how much would u charge to airbrush something on a hood???

JrTekSilverP5, that realy depend on the design you want. It can be anywhere from $200 to $1000 or more. If it's a simple design that can be done in a few hours, it's not the same price as if I work a complete week on the design.

But from what I saw on your profile, you are from Miami. It's kind of complicated to get a custom paint on a hood from me. I'm from Canada (near Montreal). I do lots of helmets painting for people from US. But it's easy to ship helmets via air mail. It's realy more difficult to send a hood!!!

i work at an auto paint store and honestly only joined the forum for this reason lol. the color code is 25T i believe and it is not a tri coat ( three stage ). a buddy of mine wants to paint his 66 Fairlane this color so i have been looking into it this last week. as far as price goes, where i work it is available in a regular style basecoat clearcoat set up in RM Diamont paint ( yes, thats good quality stuff ) for about $280 for a gallon of the basecoat alone. youll still need the reducer, and the clearcoat obviously for that and that will run you another $220 or so. so all in all, its not cheap, but hey, it is a damn nice color.

I'm realy surprise about that Sixt9coug. I don't know if you saw this color in real but if it's only a base coat it probably have lots of big metalic gold in it.

I painted a motorcycle once and the final color was a bit like the MSP color. I used a realy flashy orange base coat with a yellow candy with gold flakes in it. When I saw the MSP in real, I found the color a bit similar but less flashy.

If it's only a base coat, it's a hell of a beautiful one! (thumb)

yup its a basecoat.. yes there is an assload of yellow pearl( or gold pearl in it depends on what name brand you use ) in it. asw a matter of fact.. i have a small touch up bottle of it lying around somewhere... i dunno if a camera can capture the effect of the paint on screen but anyone think its worth a shot?

Your silver P5 looks beautiful the way it is, don't mess it up. If I was you, I would sell the P5 and buy a New MSP in Orange of course.

You'll be a lot happier with a new MSP than with a re-painted/wannabe P5/MSP.

Dude, like I said in another thread, I had thought about doing this also. SO, If I happen to come up with the $$ before you do, I cannot wait for you to be first.;)

Anyway, I picture mine with a CF hood and Autoexe Grill and lip.

Just because he paints the car the same orange as the MSP does not mean he is a "wannabe". Everytime you go to a big car show half of the cars are painted a different color. Does that mean all these people are wannabe's because they used the color code from another car? I don't think so. Jrtek go ahead and paint the car, it will bring out the neons and stickers.
