Sounds like a good idea, where in NC is is everyone from? I'm from Wilmington, about two hours from Raleigh, about four from Charlotte. Let's see how many people might be interested, where, and when. If it's a weekend my wife and I could meet up with everyone just about anywhere from the coast to Charlotte or northern South Carolina.

ok, I just went to a NCSU basketball and it occurs to me that the RBC center in raleigh is the best place, there's parking for 20000 or so, there's a hotel across the street, plenty of long wide straight roads nearby, a wendy's across the street, and it's in our capital. so how does saturday the 3rd at 12 noon at the RBC center sound to you guys? If you want to mapquest it, look where blue ridge road and edwards mill intersect in raleigh or just look up NCSU/the hurricanes' arena

ok, after deeper research the rbc center is booked for every weekend from here to forever, unless we can some how park at the rbc center for free during monster jam (the monster truck show scheduled for the 10th) I'll try to find another large lot near food, hotel, and long open road, if it comes down to it, we can all come to my house and park at the pool in my neighborhood, or on the golf course :-p

The old Pontiac place is a good idea. its the one right at the Capital Blvd./HWY440 exit right? I dont know if they have the parking lot closed off or not. I do know that they used that building for a haunted house this past halloween. I can drive over there tomorrow and check it out. There is a lot of places to eat right around there too. Capital of Cary dealership is a bad idea, some of us (like me) got their car there. I dont want any of the service guys poke'n their heads under the hood just incase it ever has to go in for work. This may not be a problem for some, but it could be for those that are modded.

Mazda Sports Car Club of NC is meeting Friday the 9th in Research Triangle Park. Someone else usually posts a meeting announcement here about one week beforehand...hasn't happened yet...

Anyhow, I'll wake our meeting announcement team up, and we'll make our formal announcment in the next days.

Our monthly regular meeting is usually the first Friday of the month, it has been moved to the 9th due to the holidays.

Anyone here is welcome to attend. In fact, if you want to re-schedule and join our existing meeting, you are most welcome to.

If you guys want to keep your date, our club will send an ambassador (possibly myself) to meet those of you who we already haven't met. I'm going to be in the Raleigh area that day teching cars for a track event and a few other errands and might be able to make it out.

I would recommend against RBC Center. I have connections to organizations that meet there and it isn't a good idea for "fast looking" cars to be hanging around there.

I agree that the two can happen this weekend, however, I don't see how a full week's notice kills too many individual's plans.

What we found when you try and coordinate meetings online among a group of people, after trying many different things, is that no matter what day/date/time you set, there will ALWAYS be someone with a scheduling conflict, and you can't accomodate everyone. You just have to set a reasonable date/time and stick with it. When you try and do these impromptu meetings every now and then, change the venues, and don't stick with a plan, you end up lacking attendance.

I would strongly encourage that MS Protege folks in the RTP/Raleigh area join our existing organization which does accomodate your cars (we aren't just Rotaries and Miatas). We have been established for several years, have a good number of committed folks (we see 25% attendance at our monthly functions on a regular basis, and that is of all of the members across the state), and it would be mutually beneficial if the various Mazda groups in RTP/Raleigh weren't a bunch of separate factions. We are trying to be self-sufficient enough to broker deals with local dealers for club discounts and be able to have enough participants to run our own events (autocrosses, driver training, driving schools).

We also have a decent number of folks in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area (we used to meet there as well) that we could bring them out of the woodwork for a meeting in the Triad area with the Pro Mazda group members I met two months ago.

Friday night, show at 7:30pm, we go inside to eat at 8:00pm.

Research Triangle Park (Durham, NC) Directions:
Take I-40 to exit 278 (NC 55)
At the stoplight at the bottom of the exit, take a right
If westbound, you'll cross under I-40, the next light is eastbound's off-ramp, go straight through it.

*Directions now same for east and westbound*
The next light is NC 54.
Go straight through the light, go across NC 54.
Keep your eyes on the right-hand side of the road. You'll see a Subway, Schlotzky's, and Jiffy Lube.
You'll see a decent sized shopping center, it will be the 2nd or 3rd driveway on the right.
There's a Food Lion in the shopping center.
Take a right into that shopping center.

Park by the Cash Points.

We eat in the food court on the right-hand side of the Food Lion, if you get late and no one is outside. Sometimes (like last month) we end up in the Mexican place on the other side of the parking lot. We aren't sure, but the food court may have closed up, so we may be eating Mexican again.

There is a place that has a Golden Corral, movie theatres, Food Lion and a gas station.
By Golden Corral and the movie theatres is tons of parking spaces that are NEVER used.

Take Aviation Blvd exit going away from the airport.
Follow Aviation Blvd to Hwy 54 (Chapel Hill Road)
Turn left onto Hwy 54 (Chapel Hill Road)
Follow Hwy 54 (Chapel Hill Road) to just past the intersection with Cary Parkway. You will see the Golden Corral on your right in the front part of the shopping center.
The largest section of empty parking spaces will be on your left once you enter the plaza. (In front on the movie theatres).

Swweeeeeeeet.......listen, I was so busy with work yesterday that I forgot to call Golden Corral and reserve that little room that the THSCC club usually meets in so I'll try and remember to call today. I was thinking of reserving it from 1:30 - 4pm so it lets the earlybirds eat if they want and then we can also make sure people who have to work like JINX still get some grub.......I'll try that time unless anyone says otherwise.......looks like it should be a cool meet......should I drive the SRT-4 too????

k....I just confirmed a reservation at Golden Corral for their banquet room. It seats a total of 50 people and I said we'd have around 20 so we should have plenty of space. We've got it from 1:30 - 4pm on this Saturday. Jeremy, Thanks for making reservations. Considering it's looking to be a cold day that will provide some comfortable refuge. And you should definitely bring the SRT. We can take some amusing pics with it surrounded by Pro's if you would like or we can take a side by side and later photoshop them to make it look like my MSP is faster (because that's about the only way to make my MSP faster than your SRT) :p

I have received e-mail that there is some confusion about the Mazda Sports Car Club of NC meetings...

There are _TWO_ meetings on Friday night.
One in Research Triangle Park/Durham
The other meeting is being held in Charlotte

They are both going to be happening simultaneously...
So, go to the one that is closest to you!
