I have the email from Mazda directed at my Service Manager.
"Dear Mazda Dealer,
We regret to inform you that retail delivery of certain 2007 MAZDASPEED3 models in your inventory must immediately be suspended. Mazda Motor Corporation had decided to conduct a voluntary Safety Recall (#4607F) to replace the No. 4 engine mount bolt on certain 2007 MAZDASPEED3 vehicles produced from June 28, 2006 through May 19, 2007.

Certain MAZDASPEED3 vehicles, the No. 4 engine mount tightening bolt may loosen if a sudden/rapid acceleration is repeatedly performed. If the vehicle is continuously driven under such condition, the No. 4 engine mount bolt may loosen and fall out or break, allowing the transmission to be out of position. In extreme cases, the driveshaft may become detached. If this occurs the vehicle will immediately lose power, come to a stop and be inoperable.

Action Required:
Beginning today, July 2, 2007, certain 2007 MAZDASPEED3 vehicles produced from June 28, 2006 through May 19, 2007 in your inventory must be inspected and repaired prior to customer delivery. Delivering subject vehicles without performing the necessary inspection and/or repair is prohibited. Failure to perform applicable recalls before delivery can result in extensive dealer fines and penalties from the Federal Government
Subject Vehicles:
Model VIN Range Build Date Range
2007 MAZDASPEED3 JM1BK34**71 603266-768653 June 28, 2006 thru
May 19, 2007
*The asterisk symbol can be any letter or number

Please note that some vehicles within this VIN range have been repaired at the ports before being shipped to your dealership. Please refer to eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry to determine if a vehicle is subject to this recall.

Parts will start arriving at dealers with affected units in inventory on July 3, 2007. Repair procedures will be available on MS3 and the eMDCS on July 3 as well."

it goes on from there, but the only important section of the email is the recall campaign to address retailed vehicles will happen later in the month.

so, for those of us affected by this, do we wait for mazda to send us a letter or is it up to us to figure out if we're one of the lucky ones?

also, is the the bolt/mount that is causing the problems?

oh well - dealer can do the fix while he does the tint he owes me...

Like you have a choice? The whole point of this car is "sudden/rapid acceleration"!!!!!!

Glad to hear they're going to take care of it.

Looks like the next step has been taken to prevent more to brake before they leave the lot. Now they have to take care of us people that already bought the car.

Probably means that your car is new enough that they had already made the appropriate changes. If they are going to all this trouble, I doubt they would leave off a few of the newer cars. You should probably consider yourself lucky, unless you enjoy extra trips to the dealership.

nope
my VIN is within the list of recalled VIN - BUT, maybe they did the "port" fix?

built in May 07, arrived port June 13th?

hmmm it has a sticker on firewall saying
"Port Campaign
Rework # 746
Port Code 49154
Date: 6-13-07"

so maybe I did get the fix?
(spin)

Sounds like it. But that COULD have been a paint touch up, or other such cosmetic fix. So definitely still call up your dealer and find out.

to replace the No. 4 engine mount bolt

so they're replacing it? not just adjusting it?

I believe they are replacing only the bolt. The new bolt is a bit longer and has a spring loaded lock washer (from what I am hearing).

How come it says: "Beginning today, July 3rd 2007" in the "Action Required" section?

I think even though it might be old, it is still important, and as I mentioned above, not so old I'm guessing, since it was just delivered today to the mazda dealership.

But hey cashmere; props for being a douchebag though.

Roger Beasley Mazda of Austin is aware of the recall but hasn't received parts yet. They expect them to arrive early next week.

I called my dealer today to check into this (Mazda Direct, Columbus Ohio) they confirmed that there is a program going on to fix the #4 motor mount problem and that they had received the parts today (7-5-07) to start doing the work. I have a service appointment on Saturday and I've been told it will be the first one that they will be doing, so they are eager to do it to see what all it involves.

I'll dig for info while I am there and report back my findings.

Guys PLEASE keep something in mind. Mazda is going ot do the bear minimum to postpone the problem. This may not at all be a fix. This is no different then what they did to the MP3/MSP endlinks which is continuously swap bushing unitl the car is out of warrenty then you are boned.

I highly suggest everyone be ready to start a shit storm if this is not a permanat fix and only a patch. As its just a bolt and a washer, Dont expect a hell of a lot.

I very much hope I am wrong.

there's more liabilities incured from a recall over a TSB... if the recall fails to correct the problem, then mazda is in deep shit with NHTSA

I called wednesday and got an appointment for today. Yesterday I called again to make sure they were thinking of the same recall I was, and not the floor mat one or the various TSB's. The nice lady explained in detail the procedure for the engine mount... went right along with the PDF's someone uploaded. In fact, I need to leave now.. the place is 2 hours away. (scratch)

I don't see why some places are telling people to wait a month.. they can't have THAT many MS3's on the lot, can they? If you have more than one dealership in your area, try different ones.

Yay! I called 2 other dealerships in town and found one that didn't have a clue about the recall, but he looked into it and found they had one part in stock. So I'm going in today. (before they realize they should have saved it for their inventory!)
I think it's weird that Houston is so behind the times with this....
