View Full Version : Worn Out Floor Mats

After 27,000 miles, the driver carpeted floor mat, where my heel rests, is completely worn-through. Don't know if other drivers have experienced this, but same thing happened with my Hyundai Santa Fe.
Mazda dealership sells complete sets for $75.00, but I really don't want to buy the whole set - just a new floor mat for the driver side.
I've tried eBay, but CX-7 mats aren't even listed.
Does anyone know where I can get JUST the driver side floor mat, new? If not, is there a good place to get a whole set, made specifically for the CX-7, cheaper than what Mazda charges for OEM replacement?
Thanks, Vince. (help)

I personally prefer the all weather floor mats. Use them year round.
Did the same thing with my Mustang.

I don't know where you can purchase just one mat, but I do recommend when you replace it that you put something down to protect the new one. I put some black rubber ones down over my carpet mats and since they're black, you don't even notice them. I rather sacrifice some cheapy replaceable ones with dirt and heel grinding than ruin my originals.

I've considered taking my driver's side mat to a shoe repair store and having them sew on a thick piece of material where the heel rests. I've never figured out why car companies don't reinforce that area of the mat with plastic or rubber.
For now, I just used the all-weather mat on the driver's side most of the year. The only mats you really need to look nice are the passenger ones anyhow.

They cheapened out on the mats and carpet in the CX 7 for some reason.....my others in my Mazda's always looked new.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! I just ordered an OEM set and should arrive soon.
Blackcherry, where did you get those "black rubber" mats? Are they generic ones from an auto parts store? From my experience, they're a poor fit, not necessarily matching the contours of the floor space. Wouldn't the all-weather mats from Mazda be a better option? Of course, the generic ones are dirt-cheap and I suppose I could trim to fit, but that looks sooo tacky.
Thoughts, anyone?
Thanks, Vince.

They're the generic ones from Auto Zone...they don't fit the floor shape exactly but protect the main areas of the floor mat that sees foot traffic. I used a razor to cut a hole in the bottom edge of the driver mat and hooked it on the mat hook so it stays put. They're working great for me.

Talk about fast delivery...whew! Ordered those OEM replacement mats yesterday morning and UPS just dropped off 10 mins ago!
Also went to Advance Auto and found the perfect "overlay" for the new OEM mats. It's about 1 x 1.5 foot and fits perfectly underneath my heel. Has deep grooves to capture dirt and moisture, plus nubs underneath to keep it in place. Cost about $10. I think I'm good to go now! (first)

I've included some links that sell the floor mats & rubber floor liners at reduced cost. These site are all certified Mazda dealerships but sell for less online. All accessories are cheaper than if you go in to your local dealer. These links should help with all of the accessories & aftermarket suff you might need.

Finishline is where I got my mats from. With shipping and tax, they came to the same price that Brown's Mazda, asked for, over-the-counter and Brown's didn't have 'em in stock. So FinishLine is tops in my book!:p

The driver's side has the cutouts for the factory hooks, the passenger side does not. I'd like them to go up under the pedal area a little more, other than than, they're great.

The floor mats are truly as cheap as frequently reported on this forum. Its almost laughable, if it weren't insulting. Purchasing all-weather mats is the way to go.
