I had a question about the hatchbacks.

I am looking to buy a used one in the color black. The problem is I can not find one, when I do find one the dealers are asking a ridiculous price.
My question is , is there anything special about the black hatchbacks ? All the other colors I can find cheaper , but I really want a black one. The price difference on the black ones I find are like 3k-5k more. I am aware of the different options and series they have, but all cars just state like basic S models.

I saw a black one around my neighborhood that I think was a loaded 06 model asking like $14,000 I think it sold now though. No I don't think that there is anything speacial about the blacks.

sometimes certain colors will be an extra option, but i doubt thats the issue...

The only color that I know of on mazdas that costs more is the crystal white pearl and that is only like 200 more brand new. Black is not more.

Are you only searching at the dealerships or online? The kind of hatch I was looking for with specific options I had to travel a ways to get it. I was able to find it online through autotrader.

Pretty much whatever color you want is going to be "more expensive" or "less common". When I was shopping I wanted a silver (probably the most common color for MS3s). They really wanted me to think the silver was some special thing that I'd better snatch up while I could.

Check the inventory of the dealer and find a color that they do not have. Then act like THAT is the color you want. Come up with reasons you don't want the other colors (like "eh, black will be too hot in the summer"). Then "settle" for black, the color you actually wanted the whole time.

well oddly enough the silver ones and white ones are the cheapest ones I have been finding used, but I hate both of those colors. (yawn)

But that is a good idea.

maybe some good news for once.

I was talking to my friend and he just now tells me his neighbor paints cars (first) so I might see how much he can hook me up then I might just buy any car color. But he did tell me it will be harder to get the paint off my car since the paint is not cheap paint.
