2 questions, really. I have about 850 miles on my MS3, and i've noticed 2 things
1. the brakes squeak sometimes. it's not really noticeable unless i'm going slow and only apply a little bit of pressure to them. is that just the nature of the volvo brakes? they also dust ALOT.
2. the valvetrain is noisy. is this normal? not like "OMG THIS IS GUNNA BLOW" but it's just something that my WRX friend pointed out. it's slightly noisier than my old 1.8T GTI

explain noisy valve train. If it's ticking, it's injectors more than likely.
The other stuff...yeah.

I didn't say it was a problem. The injectors are firing off @ 1600 psi. Engines make noise. Some a little more than others. I think it's funny that a a guy driving a scooby points out YOUR engine noise. hehe. That's like getting diet advice from an obese person.

Not Injector problems...just loud as hell.
I have over 15K on mine and the squeak does occur, usually first thing in the morning, then it is gone for the day.

Squeking is normal for bigger brake applications, and I would be willing to say the front brakes on the MS3 are larger than your average car.

the break sqeaking will go away, most of us had that issue when they were new, just get on them hard now that its broken in, it should be gone already by now.

I had slight brake squeal when the car was newer and it comes back when it's cold out. Nothing to worry about.

The "squeal indicator", as I like to call it, means you haven't driven the car hard enough... after about 20 hard transitions, it should go away.... (lol2)

Yeah, my brakes squeak too. I have 5K but have been very conservative since I bought the car. My budies from work (all drive monster trucks) were laughing at me the other day that the car is brand new and you all ready need new brakes. They just didn't understand the big brake idea.

the valve train noise is either low oil or the injectors working. i would assume its the injectors since my car is clacking too. Yes it is loud

i think the squeek is from dirt or water being on the disc brake...when i park and its windy or w/e.. the brakes squeek for the first few brakes...same thing in the morning, untill all the shit gets off

I once heard a European automotive engineer remark on the difference between European and American drivers:
"European drivers don't care if the brakes squeal, just as long as they stop the car. American drivers don't care if the brakes stop the car, just as long as they don't squeal."
