I have a 2008 MazdaSpeed 3 GT..I was wondering if anyone else has experienced annoying creeks while driving..I cant pinpoint where the noise is coming from but i definetely think it is coming from inside the car primarily upfront but on the passenger side is my best guess..I thought it may be the seat tracks possibly but not sure..

Any help would be appreciated..its drivin me NUTS!!! Thanks

There's a bar that runs across the back of the glovebox that could do it. Or there is a bulletin for the windshield since it creaks and ticks also.

I had my wife listen as I was driving and we figured out where the creek is coming from...Its actually coming from the drivers seat belt lock...when you hear the creek grab the seatbelt lock and it disapears..I'm gonna have the dealer check it out...

And the windshield is extremely irritating..Any fixes with this that you know of??

The TSB on replacing the pads on the cowling hooks is fine if not for the fact that mine had the sound from day 1. The pads were new but the noise was still there. I removed the plastic cowling that covers the integrated strut brace and the sounds went away completely. When I reinstalled the two halves of the cowling I had put 'very small' beads of silicon on all the points the cowling touched metal or glass (NOT the soft rubber strip across the bottom of the windshield, just the mounting points). The sounds went away.

Cool, someone else that has this too. My driver side belt lock does it. I figured out when it would creak, that if I moved it forward or back it'd stop. It's a loud creek like a door opening. I thought it was the seat at first, like the springs.
I thought I'd squirt some WD40 on it and see if it goes away.

This happened the SAME day as my cowl creak. That and something from the glove box AND center console. It's depressing it sounds worse than my 93 MX6 ever did and it's only 6 months old and I owe so much on it still!

There is a fix for the cowl creak as well as a fix for the belt creak. I never had the belt creak but I did have the cowl creak whihc my dealer just fixed. It takes about an hour and a half to fix. I believe there is a TSB on it. I had the same creak on my Mz5.

My MS3 is as tight as a drum and it's been hovering around freezing for the past several weeks.

Yeah, I fixed the cowl creak a few days ago. It's still audible, but very very faint. I just need to fix the belt creak now.

Surprised to hear that you still hear a faint creak.

I am lucky, my mechanic owns a Speed 3 and is even more obsessive about it. So I know he'll be aware of little before me.

Give you an example: Although they did not hear the creak when I brought it in, he applied the fix anyway becasue he knew it existed. Got to love that.

Wow that's lucky. My good fortune is that I have a boyfriend that believes me when I say something squeaks, because he IS a service tech at a dealership and knows what that's like, it's just that it's Nissan and not Mazda.

I've got an 07 with about 7100 miles on it and it only creaks when it's really cold out. Like the teens and below it seems. Sounds liek my suspension compressing or soemthing. Kind fo drives me nuts since it's a new car but it IS only in cold weather so whatever.

This might be what your talking about - http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123695615.
What sadpanda is talking about is a door creaking type sound coming from the seatbelt/front seat area.
Too many creaks! Someone should come up with an organized list of symptoms and prognosis's!

i just got back from the dealer and they figured out what was wrong with mine. under the hood where the washer fluid jets are there is a removable peice of plastic. it was loose and thus causing the annoying sound. they took it out and reinstalled it and no more noise. they also ordered me a new one just incase they said :D

It's coming from the piece of black plastic chattering at the bottom of your windshield on the outside covering the windshield wipers.

what...so if i were to mess with them then they would be loose correct?

What you describe maybe the suspension crunch that many newer cars exhibit when it's VERY cold out. My MS3 also makes that sound under heavy suspension compression (hitting a speed bump for example) but it goes away after a few miles of driving.

The windshield creak sound like it's coming from the entire windshield area. My wife likened it to the sound of rain hitting the car's skin -before it was fixed...

My 2006 M3 MT 5dr.has developed a creak in the rear suspension. Noticable when cold when entering and exiting the car. However.....I Love This Car!!(cool)

Couple Creaks I have noticed and fixed/tried/trying to fix.

1) This bitch started like a week after I got the car, Glovebox. Figured out that the latch on the left side of the glovebox isn't very tight.
Cheap Fix? Cut some duct tape into thin strips and place them on the bottom of the latch hole where the latch slides over and locks into place. Works pretty well to buffer up the seal.

2) Center console compartment things. The compartments don't sit super tight after a while, i suppose, and the rubber 'cushions' -- for lack of a better word -- aren't enough of a buffer.
Cheap Fix? Get some felt stick ons, and place them under where the rubber 'cusions' meet the plastic. I wasn't sure if it was the top or bottom one that was rattling, so I did both. Doesn't rattle anymore :P.

3) Drivers side seat belt. Creaks and squeaks a bit when your body moves.
Cheap Fix? I found that it squeaks considerably less when you tighten the bolt at the base of the seatbelt. Just feel the drivers side vs. the passenger side, it's probably way looser.

4) Passenger door handle is loose or something and causing some horrible rattling noise when playing music on the loud side. Really annoying. Going to ask to have it replaced when I go in for service next.

5) Doors + Music = Rattle. Play music loud and find that your doors click, creak and squeak.
Cheap Fix: It's probably different for most people, but i found that most of it in my car was coming from where the inner plastic door moldings meet the metal of the door. Whatever they use in the doors doesn't fill it tight enough or whatever and so it hits the door when it vibrates. I used some glue & rubber washers I had. Placed them in between the moldings and the metal in two or three spots along the plastic molding. Works like a champ for most of the door creaks. There's still some rattle coming from the inside the door, but I don't care enough to deal with that, or have the dealer rip apart my door (horror stories). Maybe one day i'll open it up and throw some foam in there.

6) Passenger seat. Kinda wobbles around slightly and may cause some rattling noise.
Not too sure what can be done about this.

Oh, forgot to add rear SWAYBAR rattling. This means your endlinks are bad, common problem, apparently. So if you start hearing a horrible rattling coming from the rear when you go over bumps and stuff, first take out everything in your trunk (including your spare & jack), and if it still happens, go to the dealer and tell to take a look at your rear swaybar (and tell them you already tried taking everything out of your trunk so they don't waste time doing that like they did for me)

Oh, one more :P. If you have a GT, sometimes small stuff like paper and what not lands on the floor in the passenger side, and ends up getting sucked into the sub-woofer's ducting (the part where the air goes in and out, put your hand down on the left side of the passenger seat and you can feel the air moving in and out when you have your music up) and causing all kinds of retarded noises when you play your music loud. the only way I could get it out was play my music super loud, move the seat back, and stick my fingers into the sub-woofer's duct. Idk about you guys, but I could only get up to my second knuckle of two of my fingers into that thing, and just had to wait until a really bassy part, and the paper or other object would come rattling down that duct thing and i'd try and grab it. It's really annoying and i've had to do it twice, and I keep having to change different songs with different bass parts to get whatever got in there moving up that duct. I think I'm going to put a small screen over that thing in the future beacuse if a rock or something gets in there and is to heavy for the sub to move it out, but still rattles, I'd be kind-of fucked and would probably have to take the passenger seat out & fiddle with the sub.. not fun.

whew.

Will they replace that stuff? I always thought they'd give me the "that's normal" shit, like they did with my front suspension and send me on my way.

I pray to god this glovebox rattling tip works. Other than the cowl creek, it is brutal! I find myself opening and slamming it shut every couple minutes how annoying it is.
Passenger tweeter is fucking balls. Just want to rip it out! But thanks to Bose, their system is so fucked up that can't be done! (so I've heard)

I had a squeak that sounded metallic that the dealership couldn't find. It wouldn't squeak all the time. I found out after cleaning my Mazdaspeed CAI that one of the welds on the splash shield band that centers the shield over the air filter had broken. The band is rubbing on the metal shield. I pulled the band off and no more squeak.
