My VRMS6 sport did not come with heated mirrors. In this cold weather it seems like a worthwhile mod for my car so I researched on how to get this... Found that thru a vendor I could get the complete heated mirror assy for $105 shipped per side new. This would be a OEM part with the housing painted in factory color. I could not pass up such a good deal and ordered them today.... Will post pics when they arrive... Link to vendor for those who want to look into doing this upgrade.... http://onlinemazdaparts.com/ Jason is super cool to deal with....

I have an MS3 GT and miss the heated mirrors in my VW GTi. Florida has a TON of fog around where I live in the mornings so this would be a great add on.
Looking forward to hearing how this works out.

Do your mirrors fog up or something? I've never had any problems with previous cars and frankly don't notice the benefit on my MS6 GT. I certainly would not pay extra for them...the heated seats, however, are a different story. They are worth every penny spent.

They fog up alot over here. Also being further south we dont get alot of snow but do get the occasional ice storm. Heated mirrors in this area make sense....

Oh I definitely have them...I've seen the snow melt off them when I don't clean them off....but I've never had a fogging issue before on any of my cars.

Well I turned on my rear defrost and it melted the snow off my back windshield but nothing on my mirrors which I still had to scrape, I think I'll be paying my dealer a visit to find out why this is as I have a GT but no heated mirrors.

Well install was a breeze...Snapped a few pics for those intrested... Mirror wiring was plug n play so if your thinking bout it go for it....
Quick write up for install///
Tools are:
1 phillips screwdriver
2 hooked pick
3 8mm socket/rachet
4 door panel clip removal tooks
Drivers door panel removal
1) Pull tweeter trim panel outwards until its loose. you can leave hanging no need to disconnect from wiring.

2) Using hook pick remove cover in door handel pocket
3) Remove screw now visable and store
4) Using hook pick pull back cover over screw behind door pull
5) Remove screw that is now visable and remove trim plate.
6) Unplug door lock switch and lay plate aside
(http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ms6mirrors5hy8.jpg)
7) Pull cover over puddle light straight out and lay aside
8) Unscrew exposed screw and put aside with outers
Note those are the only screws holding the drivers door panel in place.
9) Now comes the fun part as seen on the diagram below there are 9 clips holding the panel to the door.
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=123393
carefully pull back on the door panel and release those clips.
10) After they are all released pull door panel straight up
you can now lower door panel down no need to unplug all the connectors as you will only be accessing the screws/plug that were hidden behind the door panel to remove the mirror assy.

11) Using the 8mm socket unscrew the 3 screws holding the mirror assy in place.
http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/1499/ms6mirrors3bk0.th.jpg (http://img250.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ms6mirrors3bk0.jpg)
12) Unplug electrical plug for mirror and remove mirror assembly

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/4427/ms6mirrors7qm4.th.jpg (http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ms6mirrors7qm4.jpg)
13) Get heated mirror assy and reverse instructions to install heated mirror.
Pass side is same except there are 2 screws under door handle trim instead of one as in drivers side......
install was a breeze and taking my time only took 45 minutes.... Now for a icy day to test them out........

Great write-up, and it seems pretty easy now that you have the diagrams of the door clips and screws.
I turned on my rear defoster just to check today, and put my hand on the mirror - sure enough, it warmed right up.
Has anyone installed the side viewmirrors with the led turn signal and puddle lights? What wiring needs to be done to make the signals work correctly?

its an option for some versions. hence why this is easily possible.

My mirrors do not say heated on them. Only visable difference is the part# stamped on them and the extra 2 wires in the harness plug...

I'm trying to get the part numbers for the Liquid Platinum mirrors. I think this is gonna be my next mod since I'm constantly waking up to fogged up mirrors in the morning.
I got my heated mirrors used off eBay. Even got the right color! Less than $100 for both shipped. Super easy install, door panel pops right off. Took me no more than 30 minutes for both sides. Didn't even break anything! That's a first.

Just a quick update on these, if you have a Liquid Platinum colored MS6, paint code 30S, the part numbers are:
GP9B-69-120B-06 MIRROR (RT)
GP9B-69-180C-06 MIRROR (LT)

I'm a bit confused as to what you are ordering... Is it the mirrors itself or the assembly that fits inside the mirror?

The entire mirror assembly.
