I bought an extended warranty for my MS3 making it 5/60 full bumper to bumper. Cost me 1200 no down payment. Not great, I know, but I wanted extra coverage.
Well, my orders are getting changed and looks like I'll be heading to Iraq again in about a year. I bought this car as a coming back from iraq present, but it looks like it'll be stored in my mother in laws garage for a year or so not being driven. So I'll lose another year off my warranty without driving it. Also, when I come back for the second time, I plan on modding it (pretty heavily, albeit safely to keep it going strong). So that'll cause warranty issues.
So should I get back my warranty money (pro-rated of course)? If I get it back, well, I'll probably end up putting it directly into mods before I deploy anyway! lol. Probably get a PG fuel pump and start working on exhaust. I have a CAI. And then when I get back, I'll be looking at more indepth stuff rather than just bolt-on stuff.

Yup I would cancel it immediately and dump the money into the principle. By the way be safe over there and thanks for doing what you do! hoorah! Assuming your Army.

You should probably cancel it. I asked this question a few weeks ago. the consensus is that it is in your best interest to cancel and apply the saved money to the principal that you owe on the car. This is especially true if you plan to modify your car - paying extra for coverage that might be denied could be painful.
Just remember that everybody's opinion is just that. On my last car I billed for over 9,000 in repairs on my 1,200 warranty.

That's really not that bad pricewise.

Geez! I hope your last car wasn't a Mazda(wow)

Make sure you add some Stabl to the gas when you store it. Also put the car up on jack stands to save your tires. Dropping moth balls underneath the car wouldn't hurt either.

It doesn't take much to get to that price nowadays.

We don't need no stinkin warranty! Mine was voided with about 8k miles on it with my turbo set-up. If you plan to do mods that will allow you go back to stock it might be best to keep it up! Protege tranny and motors are a LITTLE cheaper than on an MS3!!
