This is where I bought mine, <a href="http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/20celclearbu.html" target="_New">StreetBeatCustoms.com</a>.
You may be able to find cheaper. I got them there cause they're local.
Next you'll need two pairs of washers, matching rubber washers and wing nuts. Go to your local Home Depot or Ace Hardware for these.
<img src="http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/azeli73/how%20to/washers_wing_nut.jpg" border=1>
Then go down to Wal-Mart or an Auto parts store and get Door Protection trim to make a grommet. Some automotive superglue
and orange bulbs so you're legal. = )
<img src="http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/azeli73/how%20to/fender_trim.jpg" border=1>
Now you're ready to start making your rubber grommet with the door trim. You'll need to make little pie shape cuts with a razor blade to get
good clean curve around the lens.
Once this is complete you're ready to glue the grommet on. Start at the bottom and work around it in small sections with the superglue.
Allow it to dry a bit as you go. And don't get it all over your finger. :p Once you're done it should look like this:
<img src="http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/azeli73/how%20to/grommet_complete.jpg" border=1>
Next get in your car and cut the wheel in so you can get under the fender to remove these plastic screws:
<img src="http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/azeli73/how%20to/under_fender.jpg" border=1>
Gently pull back the plastic and reach in and find this part of the back of the lens:
<img src="http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/azeli73/how%20to/pushhere.jpg" border=1>
Push that in while prying the lens out with your other hand. Now you can remove the bulb from the lens and put in your new orange one.
Use a little bulb grease to help prevent moisture.
Twist the new bulb into the clear lens and now you're ready to put it on. Use the rubber washer first and then the regular one to help
protect the bumper. Follow that with the wing nut and tighten them down well so they don't come loose. Screw the plastic screws back on
and repeat the other side. Now you've gotten rid of those ugly yellow lenses and have a nice matching design that looks like it came from
the factory.

thanks, this is a much clearer guide than the one on toprotege.com.
love these celica lights cuz they are smaller than the stock ones and better looking than that weird oval shape of the stock, rxy, and eclipse clears.
and the pattern on the lense is similar to stock instead of those diamond ones everyone is getting.
nice clear guide!

if you do a search on ebay you'll find cheap ones but they look ugly, lol.

This is the part number for the 2000-2002 celica lens. <b>apc402029BL</b> yeah it's an APC part.:p
Your best bet is to look for a local performance shop that can get this so you don't pay for shipping. Let's face it, almost everyone carries APC parts.
Thanks for the praises! :D

Thanks for the mod. I purchased everything yesterday and will install tonite or tomorrow. I will post pics next week.....
Those look good. I got the eclipse one's and they are like an inch
thick and a lot bigger over all. So I cut custom holes in the my dam
to snap the whole thing in so they are flush looks good but took a lot of balls to cut the holes(chair) . Your ways much smarter and easier.

thanks for the great how-to, just finished it today. Since my car is silver i found gray weather-stripping at Ace that makes the clear lights look more stock compared to having a thick black outline. if anyone in so cal wants to do this mod i can give you some strips for $1. i got enough for at least 4 more.
some more tips:
-the wing nut you will need is metric!
-before you start gluing on the grommet do a dry-fit so you can see what areas need to have the grommet overlapping more. The celica light is smaller than our p5 ones and if you dont glue the grommet on right you will be able to see ugly bumper holes.
-there are two areas you can cut for a better fit. i attached them circled below. Cut 1 so the lense sits more flush against the bumper. for 2 there is a little bump where the light locks in place. Cut that off so when you screw the light back into the lense you will get a tighter fit, meaning less condensation!
-i didnt trust suprglue to stand up to years of weather so i reinforced it with some epoxy glue =D
i am at my apt now so i dont have a digital camera. can take pics later

I did mine this past Wed. and it looks pretty damn good. I have to make a small adjustment on one of the home made grommets or whatever you call it.
NOTE:: Make sure you start and end your rubber grommet piece on what will be the bottom side of the lens toward the street. This will help keep attention drawn away from any imperfections in the grommet itself.

Nice how-to, I might have done this mod earlier but plan on shaving the stock front sidemarkers anyway and adding reg side markers. I really like the ones one the 745Li, but just mainly something that isn't so big!.
BTW what is the side marker bulb size for stock?

04-22-2004, 03:21 PM
i snapped all those tabs off, anything that was not need got razored off and still i cut into the car body to make it fit better. also putting a rubber seal around it will make it fit better as it doesn't curve exactly to the car.
FLSilverP5
04-23-2004, 06:20 PM
lol i never have an easy mod. I sawed my lenses, i drilled my bumper, i got superglue all over my bumper (anyone know how to get this off?). it doesnt look clean at all. The celica lenses were like 2 mm too short. I am a true dumbass. But at least i am the example for everyone else of what not to do! (monkey)

04-24-2004, 08:57 AM
I just had mine shaved off. The body shop charged me $50 and then $200 to paint the bumper, took all of 3 days total. Im not all that keen on having all that crome stuff hanging on my car. Did the headlights black too.
FLSilverP5
04-24-2004, 11:36 AM
really where did u find a body shop to do it?
Pics?

trbomp5
04-24-2004, 03:50 PM
I bought my car totaled and then rebuilt it myself. The body shop that did the painting for me, also did the bumper and lights, but they were about a month later, as I had a hard time finding a bumper. they just "welded" in a fill piece, then smoothed it over, voila! No more ugly a$$ lights! My car is dirty right now but Ill still post the pic of with lights gone
trbomp5
04-24-2004, 03:52 PM
O and the car was WAY worse than the picture makes you believe. I had to replace the entire front left side framing, door frame and windshield frame. And of course, suspension, doors, windshield, fender, hood, light, bumper, motormounts, and 1/2 axle

Is the celica marker lights the same size as the orange reflectors? Does it leave a spot that has to be buffed out? Also, how did you wire the lights? Directly to the signal lights?

just get in there with a razor utility knife and start cutting away in angles until the pegs go through easy. it will be covered up anyways so theres nothing to lose.
90210brandon
02-09-2005, 06:14 PM
I widdled down the pegs on the back of the lights and didn't touch the bumper. Try that. That way you don't mess up the bumper and if you mess up the clear bumper lights you can always order another set or put the OEM ones back in.

this is strictly to replace the bumper lense. It isnt a blinker, just a light. I think someone has made them blink, but that isnt what this thread is for.

just cut and splice the side marker wiring into the turns signal wiring above the fender or the turnsignal in the headlight itself
Simple as that

the blinker repeaters are already clear
shouldnt need to replace them with different clear lenses
wrkngmanByTor

yeah, I know that, but what I mean is replace both so you have matching lens shapes.
I've found the washers, i've ordered and recieved the celica clear bumper lens...
But I still can't fint theses "door protrection trims" nether at Walmart, Canadian Tire or local part stores
(huh)
Nobody here seems to know what a "door protection trim" is....
Anyone have a part number or a picture of the packaging of this?
Or a link of somewhere I can buy it online??

Thanks!

hey there, i was wondeirng do you know if theres a way to make the side repeaters on the fenders also clear??
Rockin03mp5
06-24-2009, 10:43 AM
they should already be clear. it is just the bulb that isnt. this how to makes both lenses clear, but to still be legal, they need to light up amber.
Then go down to Wal-Mart or an Auto parts store and get Door Protection trim to make a grommet. Some automotive superglue
and orange bulbs so you're legal. = )
