View Full Version : Nitrous ON ITS WAY!!

After much dicussion with members that have N2O, I bought a WET kit from Nitrous Express. I plan on starting low at a 30 shot with my mp3 ECU and seeing how it works. I talked to the guy that will install it. I'm pretty safe with the stuff I bought on the side:
Fuel Pressure cut off switch, Purge, Fuel and Nitrous Gauges.
The gauges are 1 5/8" only so I'll have to find out where to mount them, I'm thinking below the radio right around the cup holders (that slot back there). I'm getting it professionally installed by Eckberg Motor Builders (they've built direct port, etc). They guy said we should be ok, it will take about a day install (have to get the engine cool). etc etc.
Where should I have the purge blow?
:D
Justin at Imports plus was VERY helpful and gave me a good deal. (thumb) any questions, ask.
With the precautions I am getting (fuel cut off, gauges) I can tell if a fuck up is coming (hopefully). To start, a 30 shot. 50 shot coming.

get a set of colder plugs. purge it out the vent behind the hood straight up. if you race make sure your vent hose goes out side your car from your bottle or you might not get to race. window switch is a must and if using the mp3 ecu be careful. mp3 ecu + n2o = boom.

id go 2 stages colder, and why just a 35.. go turbo then you can run a 100 or 150 shot all the time.. hehe (sorry had to) :D
and yes online, any parts store, just get good ones. juan has some or terry even.

Dead center in the middle of the passenger seat. Would be great for messing with friends. Or you could have it mounted in the dash and use it for whippets; sure, it might not be healthy, but it won't kill you.

from what i hear, with proper safe guards and P5 ecu, you'll be good.
heres what I got:
EFI 35/50/75shot Kit $517 shipped
Purge, Fuel cutoff, Fuel pressure gauge, Nitrous Gauge $236 free shipping
Today bought 1 step colder spark plugs, going to exchange for 2 steps colder soon.
$760 for everything I've mentioned.

hmm i gotta get with him and see how its working out for him as far as speed, how much its taken off his times, etc...so i guess its a myth that each shot of nos adds like 10k miles to your motor?

if run correctly nitrous/N2O (NOS is a NAME brand) is a very good performance adder. If installed/run INCORRECTLY you will fuck your engine up. But if you fuck around with a turbo, too much boost, youll mess your engine up too. Nitrous just costs 1/5 of the cost of a turbo. If you have Nitrous, you dont always have to be on the bottle...

The spark plugs helps the burning of the fuel..The colder the spark plugs..The less a chance of them melting due to higher temperatures w/ using nitrous oxide!
I used 1 step colder..But if you go 2 you will notice your gas mileage going down down down!!

Actually the nitrous you will purchase is very deadly if you inhale..They put in an additive so that people will not inhale it!!!!!
I have mine mounted so it purges right below my Intake!
I like the sleeper look!!

Actually w/ nitrous express new shark nozzle it will help to prevent puddling!!
chas (acidbbg) has been running a 50 shot sucessfully (6 refills) on his P5....
Actually it's closer to 8 refills!
There's a guy named patio who has been running a 75 shot on a p5 (completely stock) w/ no ill effects!!
hmm i gotta get with him and see how its working out for him as far as speed, how much its taken off his times, etc...so i guess its a myth that each shot of nos adds like 10k miles to your motor?
Each 75 shot w/ net you about 1 second off your 1/4 mile!!
About nitrous adding 10k mile to your car..Well..I guess that can be true..If you run 2 bottles a week...every week!!!

I have been saying that it cost so much cheaper than a turbo..w/ as much hp as you can get w/ a turbo...A wet kit can be installed w/ little to no mods on a p5!!
How long it will last...depends on what shot you use..and how often you use it..!!
you'll get addicted!!
Especailly when you upgrade to a 50shot!! and start whipping up on Bmw's, vw 1.8t's, mazda speeds, mustangs!

couple questions,
I was going to go turbo, but with the cost and my plans for switching to an rx-8 in 2-3 yrs I dont think it is a feesable option.
So I have decided to go nitrous when Im ready.
How much does it help to have a partially or fully modded engine when going N2O as opposed to a stock engine with a kit?
I already have a reactive exhaust and a custom intake (which I might switch over to an injen RD CAI) possibly a header coming up, cams and a flywheel.
My ideal plan would be to get my car to the 155-165 hp mark and then throw a 25-50 shot at it. Not looking for a system that kicks in at a certain rpm just one I could use when I want a little extra fun.
Finally HiBoost's turbo kit claims not to degrade the engine over the life of it, with a wet shot system keeping the shot always below 50 and mostly at 30 or so is it the same case? Or with n20 does it not matter it will eventually degrade the engine?

acidbbg - how many times have you used your 50 shot with the MP3 ECU and what nx kit do you have

Haven't run a 50shot w/ the mp3 ecu...I am thinking that i will just bump it back to a 35 shot for now..and see how things go!!
Chas
P.S. When i was on the p5 ecu..that 50shot was great!!
