alright I have an aem CAI installed so I only am concerned about the emissions system here....

Should I be concerned with my exhaust system at all for my *possible* nitrous project? I have the racing beat exhaust but should I consider upgrading? Also should I consider upgrading the headers, and anything else like that?

hmm... AEM makes CAI for MP3???? not SRI???

perhaps it's an SRI...it was installed before I bought the car and I just assumed it was a CAI

does it go to the fenderwell or the engine bay?
engine bay = sri
fenerwell = cai -=)

hmm...I'm sure it's SRI
I never heard AEM made CAI for 3rd gen proteges. :)

SRI it is then, hangs out in the engine bay =)

no, no real need to upgrade exhaust for nitrous. stock is fine. :)

As noted..It's not needed!

But w/ a header..YOu will get larger hp out of your shot!!

Nitrous love's to be able to breathe freely like a good turbo setup!

Like the car just feels much more powerful..It all depends on what gear you shoot in..In 5th, 4th and 3rd it's not really fel that much..

But in 1st and second...wowser!!!

LOL

That doesn't really matter to much..You will feel it guaranteed...I am pretty sure there is 1 or 2 member w/ auto that have tried it!!

What about cams, I have the Mazdaspeed Exhaust and Intake Cam on order, plus I was planning on getting the racingmazda header pretty soon, but my real question is that if I have cams will the nitrous still be user friendly or will i run into problems?

Not really..Cams advance timing..So it's not really good to have..

I should speak...LOL

So i guess you're saying that you shouldn't run N2O with the JDM intake & Mazdaspeed exhaust cams. I was just getting ready to put mine in and buy an NX kit from my friend for 150 bone, but if you say it's not good. Then I'll not buy he NX kit.

screw the cams and get the NX... its either get about 10 horsepower or 50 lol

the jdm and mazdaspeed camshafts are basically stock camshafts, I'm pretty sure it would be better if you wanted to spray with camshafts, you would get more power

cam gears can advance timing

I have 2.5" piping cat-back to a skunk2 muffler, when you get exhaust with nitrous the top end seems to pull a bit more, but you lose some tq, (or maybe its just my clutch giving out?)

As noted by patio...cams are ok..they will help you..but cam gears..are where the threat is..b/c it will advance your timing!!

I say go for both...cams..and nx...be a pioneer...no one knows all the answers...but the more people try things out the more knowledge we gain about our cars..and the way nitrous works!!

NX 20923. Import 35-50-75 shots.

Yeap..Just as Pdhaudio noted...That's the same kit i have..w/ the mp3 ecu..i would suggest leaving it at a 50shot..unless you find a way to retard the timing!

acidbbg

Yeap..Same kit..But w/ a p5 ecu..I would go for a 75shot...It's F8cken Great..I did it once when i had my p5 ecu in!

so if i get that NX express kit, and keep my Mp3 ecu, i shouldnt get any CEL? What other things should i get to get the complete NX kit going? What kind of gauges, or any other saftey precautions?
Oh yea, is Nitrous on our cars safe if we are turbo?

No you will not get a cel w/ nitrous..unless you blow your engine...

Well..first read up as much as possible..i have created many threads telling people what to do to get their protege's to run nitrous...

I would suggest some guages..but they really aren't needed..but rather suggested!

here's the link i mentioned above!
