Just for al those considering the SRT/4 I have been brwosing the SRT boards and found that the Mopar satge I upgarde is in no way covered under warrenty. The upgrade is considered modification to the vehical as is any other companies parts and dodge will not do warrenty work it it causes a problem.

And it's offered by them? That's pretty stupid.

Some dealers are claiming it won't void it but the official dodge release on the subject says:

1. The mopar kit is not covered by dodge in any way with any warrenty.
2. Dealers are not supposed to install in
3. If a malfuction occurs becuase of it the factory warrenty is vioded.

Again, it all goes back to the simple fact that: IF YOUR GONNA MOD, THROW YOUR WARRANTY OUT HTE WINDOW, IF YOUR MODS CAUSE YOUR ISSUE. :D

Dodge is being a bit to damn shaddy with it though.
The originaly didn't comment on it and let it be generaly accepted that it would be covered. Even most Dodge sales people will say it is. Then they VERY quietly say it will not be covered :bs:

Ok sorry but alot of people have stage 1 on their SRT and its either been installed at the dealer or themselves and its "STILL" under warranty! I have gone to the dealer near me and asked about S1 and its not a problem...if it was?... then Why would they sell it. Every stage except the Stage 3R if covered. By the way S3R if for track purpose ONLY!

I bet that is going to make some pissed off SRT owners, When I was looking at that car the dealer made it sound like everything would be covered, I even looked at one that was brand new no miles and had the stage one upgrade. Very deceiving

Since its not emmisions certified, technicaly a dealership con not legaly even install it.

Damn...could you imagine bringing your (stock) SRT-4 in for warranty work...they find an old timeslip in the car, and VOID YOUR WARRANTY because you USED YOUR VEHICLE FOR COMPETITION!!

Thanks for posting this, I got tired of cringing everytime someone said "It's [Dodge's Stage One] under warranty, why can't Mazda do this for us?" I just never wanted to start a big argument about it.

The Competition clause has been going on for years. Back in the sixties, the Zone Managers would goto the races on Saturday and Sunday, write down VINs on competing cars and void warranties on Monday. These were the days you could order an AFX drag car from the dealership.

Look in the Protege warranty booklet, there is a competition clause in there too.

Stage 3 hasn't even been finalized or fully designed yet. Stage 2 is out this winter.

The dealership can install them, although it is technically illegal to do before customer delivery. If it is on the showroom floor and has Stage 1, it is not legal. If the customer signs the papers, then they can pull it around and install while they wait.

It's just like Mazda dealerships, some are cool, some aren't. Also it helps that the dealerships make money off of selling Stage one and the repairs that follow...

Its illegal to do at all by a dealer as it is not emissions certified.

There are different emission laws across the country, don't forget that...

Yes I know but doesn't a product have to be cleared federaly to be installed by dealerships.
