Mustang Mach 1 vs GT

What makes a Mach 1 mustang more powerful then the GT?

the mach 1 uses a DOHC version of the 4.6L engine and has higher compression than the standard GT. it also requires premium fuel as compared to regular 87 octane for the GT. the GT comes in at a measely 265 horsepower whereas the mach1 comes in at 305 horsepower. isn't the cobra something like 395 horsepower?

the mach 1 also has the shaker hood scoop, which is a ram air type of thing, not sure, but same principle, so it has 2 ways for air to get in, it also has the suspension of the cobra, the mach 5?? audio system, some name 4got tho, has 1000 watts, itz basically a cobra with out the gas guzzler tax and the supercharger

it's also supercharged. i don't get it... mercedes always uses superchargers. their new super car, the slr uses a supercharger. the mustang uses a supercharger. why can't more people make a supercharger for us? if they can put it in a mercedes 2.3L four banger, they can put on in for our car. our engine's been around longer anyway. that sucks. damnit... now even the friggin matrix gets a supercharger. man, i hate mazda. well, actually, i hate ford for being such a big part of mazda. no more mazdas for me. just kidding. wait, what was the point of this post? eh, i don't remember anymore.

edit: i'm talking about the cobra having a supercharger.

mach 1 dosnt have a supercharger cuz then it would be a cobra, and the orginial mach 1 didnt have a supercharger, the ford team wanted to make the mach 1 again, so thats y the shaker hood was added, but no supercharger...

i raced a 5.0mustang...he had a supercharger..it was at the track..he ran under 10sec....i ran a 16.3...lol..he killed me..BUS LENGTHS...

before my mazda i owned a 97 Firebird and a saleen S281 pulled up to me on the right side on a street where the lane ended in so many amount of feet. i hate when people do this just to get in front of u so i wasn't going to let him in front of me. when the light turnd green slamed the gas and shot out in front of him. then when he found out that i was racing him he too floored it and i didnt have a damn chance in hell of beating him. i was going as fast as possibly could, he then lets of the accelarator for a split second just to look over at me then he handed me my ass. man that car was fast, and thats olny the S281 what about the S351

also if anyone has kazaa, go to it and go to search and type" (Street racing) and a whole list of car's come up and look for the 03 Cobra vs. turbo sentra and just watch the vid, and you'll be suprised. The senta just dominates the 395Hp cobra. Also the cobra is a high 12 to low 13sec 1/4mile car, but they start from a roll both times. ;) BTW is there anyway to post a video on here from kazaa.

The mach 1 is baaically an older cobra that has been restyled to look like the old mach one. The mach 1 also has the independent rear end like the cobras.

The cobra is of no concern, never could I afford it :D. I just wanted to know what made a mach a mach.

Seems the engine has:
DOHC
forged crank
higher compression
Independant rear suspension

Is that all right?

My major question is how easily can a GT be made as fast as a mach?

easily, just requires $$$, the main thing that seperates a mach from a gt is the shaker hood and the rear suspension, engines and the rest r just upgraded which can be easily done

Actually No, your talking about redrims's who posted a video of a 200SX SE-R with a SR20Det vs. a trans am Ws6. This is a different video of a Fast Turbo Sentra and a 03Cobra. The, Turbo Sentra would probably put a Corvette Z06 into shame. Since the 03 cobra's #'s are right around the Z06. :(

I think your best off getting a GT anyways since the Mach's come with the WORST wheels ever, and that shaker scoop really isn't that great. For Ford, I think the Bullitt limited run was the best, nice color, no body cladding or graphics, and a mint car to honour.

If I were you I'd wait until the 2005 Mustang comes out because that retro design looks awesome. Its definitly going to be what causes me to pass the P5 to my girlfriend.

Basically the Mach is just a pre-supercharger Cobra engine (with correct horsepower figures this time, Ford used to say the DOHC 4.6L was capable of 320, if anyone remembers that, a good one made 310 at the crank until they revised the intake). But you can't easily fit an IRS to a GT, and the Mach already has it. :) A 4.6L SOHC can be made to push well over 300 without too much work, but the 4.6L DOHC is a good tuner engine as well (as evidenced by the 80HP gain with the addition of a S/C).
