I need to ask a favor of the aussies on this board.I need pics of the right hand drive proteges(sedans) for reference.I am looking into a project and I need to see what will be involved.I need pics of the interior, mainly the dash, door panels, and underneath the dash for the pedal assbl'y and steering column.I also need some good pics of the engine bay and more specifically the firewall.I also need some pics of the mirrors on the car.Keep in mind, these MUST be from a right hand drive pro.
ANY help on pics and parts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Matt:)

you sure it won't be cheaper to import one and then just swap all your crap into it?
twilightprotege

ps - just buy an aussie, nz or jap pro and import it and sell yours - prob cheaper and much much easier

probably even easier to get an english one - like from england!! and then you can get the ever cool diesel engine!! yay!!
what are you doing anyway?? not a car for left handers is it??
glyph

then run the diesel on vegetable oil!

Edit: dont feel like explainging why you get more points for doing a more detailed swap, then just a front weld on. :D

C'mon,I know someone has some pics or can take some for me?
And I wouldn't buy a right hand drive and swap all of my stuff onto it because then its not truely a RHD MSP!I want to have something that NO ONE else has!
And yes Craig ,you know exactly what I am up to!
Matt;) ;)

OK ?
The Mazda Australia site was absolutely worthless for what I was looking for.
What I need is for one of you Aussies to take some pics for me.My biggest concern is the pic of the engine bay and the firewall.I see there is not much different on the interiors except for the pedal assbl'y and the actual upper dash itself. What I really need to see the differences on are the locations of things on the firewall.
I AM SERIOUS about doing this conversion ,so please don't think I will be just wasting your time for helping me out because I will not do that.I just need to see how far I am going to be in before I go for this.Any aussies want a left hand drive car?I may have some parts very soon for a conversion!

i might be able to borrow my mate's digi cam next weekend for ya...i'll try my hardest to get it.
so it's really only engine side firewall you're after?

Yeah the firewall side shots would be very helpful, but some pics of the interior differences would be appreciated as well.Just shoot me what you can and I will be grateful. If you know of any parts you can locate for me ,this would also be very helpful.I would be in your debt if you can get me parts or at least part numbers for what I need to do this conversion. If I can come up with the part #'s then I can just order the stuff direct from Mazda.
Thanks
Matt

i hope you do this and pull it off!! i was thinking of doing it since at all the show i enter there are passenger side driver hondas and they get a shit load of show points!! i cant afford it on military pay but i would still like to see it done and see the final tally on cost!!

I had heard that you cant import a car for something like 3 or 4 years after you purchase it, so doing the conversion was the only way to quickly get a right drive in the states. Anyone have any idea if that was BS or what?

THANKS Tunnel Rat!
The pics may just prove to be helpful!
NOW?Do you have any friends that work at the dealer????
I would love to get my hands on the part numbers I need to do this.Got a foreign service manual you can get for me with all the part numbers in it?How about a CD from the dealer with all the part numbers on it ?
Got any junkyards around willing to ship parts to the States?
Let me know if you have any other way that you or any other aussie member could help me out with getting parts to me!
Thanks to all of you that are helping!
I truely appreciate it!
Matt;)

I think the hardest part of the transition is going to be making the stearing work correctly. I see alot of welding and custom stuff coming your way. Interesting idea for sure, I hope you have alot of money because shipping for australia is expensive. Through UPS I priced a set of springs at 240$ to ship. I think USPS is the cheapest at right around 80$.
