hey guys,

i've just been speaking to gujustud about his anodized aluminium oil caps - see http://www.msprotege.com/vbb225/showthread.php?s=&postid=493467

anyway, i asked him about getting them here to us in oz in one big buy then i can post them out from here - much much much cheaper than us all getting 1 and paying shipping from america.

now he said that he can get them engraved with SP20 on the caps in the same font as that of the MP3 on the above page i mentioned. he'd need a minimum of 10 to set up the SP20 engraving for us.

now, price will be $28usd unengraved or $30 engraved. i will be getting two unengraved black ones (one for the oil cap and one for my soon to be power steering fluid tank)

so aussies, show your interest here and i'll see what we can muster

Exactly. But if you can get them to specify POLISHED, or CLEAR ANODIZED POLISHED.

fyi - i pm'd gujustud about what's going on with the oil caps.....his reply :

Still waiting to get them back from polishing. Taking a little longer than I expected. Hopefully will have em by wed at the latest. I'd like to have them sent for anodizing by the end of this week, so I can get em next week to engrave them.

I started programming the SP20 engraving. I'll post up a pic later of what it looks like before I engrave.

Update: Oil caps are finally back from Polishing. I'll be taking them in tomorrow or maybe later today for polishin'.

If you want a certain color anodized (clear coat polished/red/blue/black) or just plain polished, please post up, so I know how many of which colors to get done.

so all, pls confirm what colour you want and if you still want SP20 engraved on the cap - guju, pls post pics here when possible.

Yup its still going on. I spoke with the anodizing place, they have been bombarded, so they are slightly behind. I'll be getting the parts back tuesday at latest.

I did get the oil caps back last week, but there was a issue with the quality of the anodizing. Not something that most people would notice, but because I deal with it a lot, I did notice it, and I took them back to the anodizing place on monday. I will give them a call regarding it today, and post up another reply once I know when they will be ready.

I do applogise for the delay. Generally it only takes about 5 days for me to take them to get anodizing, then pick them up. Its taken almost now 3 weeks +. Trust me, I'm quite upset with the place I deal with, and I think that if they aren't ready by tomorrow, I will be using a new company from now on.

Hopefully those that have responded above still want them. I've engraved a few (as seen in the pics), but just for confirmation, I've engraved the following:

1 Blue SP20
2 Black SP20
1 Clear Anodize SP20
1 Polished SP20

I think I said clear anodised polished before. Dunno if that is a contradiction in terms, but either is fine, the less bling bling would be preferred though to match the brushed alloy strut brace.

I did 2 black ones. The first one, was the test. The endmill I used to engrave it was slightly dull, so you'll notice the words are not exactly sharp, but slightly blurred. Thats why I made another black one. I can include this one at a slightly discounted price once I work out the pricing for you guys.

You can see the difference between the polished (in the back) and the clear anodized on polished, in the front.

Near as I can tell the only way of getting the Kartboy bushes out of the States is through Mitch at Protege5online.com since Kartboy won't/don't ship outside U.S.A.

He can get the TWM shifter as well tho only the B&M is listed on the site. That's how TDK and I got ours anyway....

The TWM shifter/Kartboy bushes combo comes highly recommended.

Haven't heard from wiredone on the cap, I'm not sure he would go for the black one......

well boys i've paid guju, but i'm still waiting on payment from coolsp and wiredone...coolsp said he did an external transfer yesterday so hopefully that'll come through today, so it's just wiredone we're waiting on.

the package should take 10-12 working days to get to me (+ or - a few days due to xmas mail). as soon as i get it here, i'll send it on to all of you.

yeah i was thinking the shifter combo would be a good next buy. was thinking the 2nd series TWM (with the ball bearings) and kartboy bushings....in the new year i'll do some snooping around to see what we can get...

making up a custom boot isnt that difficult. i made mine out of kangaroo leather. looks great! dont have pics at the moment because i'm not at home. cost me $20 for the off cuts of leather and 2 hours work (i'm not so good on the sewing machine)

not a bad idea....to be honest i'm just glad my fiancee knows her sh!t about sewing. she helped me a lot.

the reason i chose kangaroo is it's twice as strong as cow leather for the sam thickness...so that allowed me to have the leather slightly thinner...much easier on the sewing machine

Whats the go with gst, and import duties coz theres a lot of confusion over this area.

is it true that as long package doesnt contain some kind of invoice, no duties or gst can be charged by customs???

i just posted an "introducing twilightprotege" thread on astinagt. i was already a member! (joined 19 october 2003...and that was my 1st post).

that's good that you find this site better :D

well...the go with gst etc...it actually depends on how you send the item. usps somehow doesnt seam to go through the same customs proceedures as other companies. i have never paid gst or import duties when shipping via usps (most i spent was $900usd...and that was when the aussie dollar was 0.49). UPS i've paid import duties and gst...

and as well to that, gst and import duties are only charged when the item is more than $400aud (at the moment). will be raising to $1000aud shortly i believe. so if the invoice works out to be less than that no duties no matter who you ship with....but if you do a dodgy and have the item amount less and it goes missing? the insurance cover on the postage (if you select it ofcourse) will only pay the amount you wrote on the export slip thingie.

Just while we are "off topic" on this place vs AstinaGT, they both have their place.

The "on the ground" community at AstinaGT is real good.
This place is better for nuts and bolts for sure though.....and ideas that hit my wallet :)
