That black valve cover is stock on every MP3 and MSP. IF you dont have one, you might wnat to look underneath your car to make sure you have racing beat sway bars as well.
YOU MAY HAVE BEEN SHEISTED.
Check it out, and let me know.

The MP3 is the original first true "Sport Compact" attempt for the Mazda family. Nice car and welcome.

Not hard, it's like a puzzle. Why would you want to?

You dont need to remove the dash to change the CD player, on the Protege 5's I would not suggest removing the radio without removing the radio trim pieces because it is REALLY easy to scratch the trim. It may be different on the MP3 since it has an aftermarket radio to begin with. To remove the radio you will need the removal tools, you can get them at autozone or somewhere like that for pretty cheap, or construct your own out hd a bent hanger. Since I dont have the car I couldnt tell you much more then that.

How much did you pay for the car?

uhh, that doesnt even attached with screws.. its clipped in in about 8 places.. to remove it you can turn the air vents down, and pull it out gently. You then have to unattach the hazard light switch, the two AC control arms (accessable in each foot well, one behind the glove box and one under the drivers side dash near the center of the car). Once those are remove there are two electrical connections for the AC controls and then you can pull the whole panel out easy.

*****All thats is only IF you need to remove the trim, you dont need to usually on aftermarket radios, just remove any thin plastic piece around the kenwood HU, and insert the tools and pull the unit out. There should then be only two plugs to pull out. I dont know this for sure though, because I have never messed with an MP3, just aftermarket radios in other cars.
