Don't laugh.
I actually have a sign in my street warning people to look out for Kangaroos on the road!
The sign is a kangaroo sign but it is actually for wallabies. What are they?
Kinda small kangaroos that are nocturnal, and they will come out at night and graze on people's lawns when the pickings are slim in the forest. Lots of them where I live.
Seriously cute things, but when you come flying around the corner late at night and there's a couple of dozen wallabies all over the road.....whoa!!!
I can tell you if you hit a kangaroo (bigger) at any kind of speed, life has just gone pear-shaped on you.
In the real outback of Australia, people have "roo bars" on the front of their cars......
This IS the truth! Can send you a pic of the sign if you like.
Oh yeah, in Australian "the truth" is "fair dinkum" :)

yeah i've gone close to taking out kangaroo's in country queensland and new south wales.
in the northern territory it gets a little worrying when a dead kangaroo (hit by a road train - ie big truck with 4 trailers for you yanks) takes up half of the road and you have to drive on the wrong side of the road to miss it and the wedge tailed eagle eating the roo
Haha, most of the animals in Australia are pretty harmless if you leave them alone and don't do anything to provoke them.
Up my way (suburban Sydney), I've got signs to watch out for wombats on the road. Plenty of swamp wallabies around too. Melbourne zoo is nice, you should enjoy it.

Oh yeah, in Australian "the truth" is "fair dinkum" :)speaking of which, do you know of any sites with australian sayings and what they mean or could you put together a quick list so when people say things to me i don't just sit there and look at them like they're crazy? cause if someone said "fair dinkum" to me, i'd think they were talking gibberish

Get yourself some Empire beer, nice!! :) or Crown Lager....but then I'm a lager kinda guy.....
Isn't it true that ONLY Queenslanders drink XXXX beer? LOL
Vistors from Stateside need to get used to the way we do dates.
ie we do it day/month/year not month/day/year (logical*cough*)
Oh and ass is arse here.....we sit on our arses....

yep gotta keep an eye out for steve irwin on the road... he'll try to tackle ya car
haha got for a drive in a runout model BJ... would be fun (just the opposites thing...) but yes i highly recommend a drive in the Ford BA Falcon XR6 Turbo....... *pant*
like i have already said you really should go to sydney, but i won't hold that against ya...
QLD has heaps of jap imports, coz they get imported through QLD complianced for australia, and then are legal in every state of australia...... i need a silvia.... naaa i think i'd rather a GTR
How about direct import JDM Mazda Familia Sport20 AWD then add turbo??

btw, don't be silly and try to use the slang... we'll laugh harder...
i thought that the B&S ball was Blokes and Sheilas!!!
right don't follow any of these reccommendations, you want to drink Tooheys Extra Dry.. the only good beer here!!! failing that you should drink Coopers Pale Ale (green)
and yes the risk of hitting wildlife while driving is high... i've hit a roo once, cost AU$1400 to fix!!! (and the thing got up and bounced away..) hit eagles as theyyy like to eat the kangaroos on the road... and came close to hitting a cow.... only god knows why there was a cow in the middle of the road.... BTW if you are driving have a squizz at http://www.rat.gov.nsw.au (Roads and Traffic Authority NSW) there are some v. good points on driving here
the weird turns are called hook turns and you only need them in mexico... i mean victoria (south of the border.......)
