Im gearing up for the 2k4 show season and will be getting the ZEX wet kit. I know alot of you rave about the NX kit, but for simplicity the ZEX kit is #1 for me. Im not planning to use the nitrous alot at all. The nitrous itself will be used more for purges than sprays into the motor. The kit is basically going in for show purposes. However, I will try it out once in awhile while on open roads at night ... in saying that ... will I need to do any additional upgrades to my fuel system to support the 55 shot that the kit comes with - fuel pump? I know my auto tranny wont be extremely happy with me, but in 3rd + gears at WOT I think ill be ok, as long as I lift between shifts.

i just would avoid nitrous... but thats me. esp since 1/2 the people that have run it have blown.
BUT, if you are getting a wet kit, no real need to upgrade your fuel pump

Like I said ... its going in the car to be looked at and to have the ability to purge. It I dont think I would ever go thru a whole bottle from actual performance use ... show use, DEFINITELY.

buy a fake purge kit mount a bottle and put in the fittings under the hood and keep your motor happy.

Hehe i dont think the motor will object to 2-3 sprays in total.
I wish I could just get fake stuff .. but im also adding that spray illuminator :) ... if only CO2 produced a cloud like nitrous

we can make a deal though.
stupid parts are fair traded, so you wont find them for a deal like that again, unless used.

I ran nitrous in my car for over a year..with no problems at all..there have been a couple people actually have ran it with out any problems! You will not need any upgrades for a 55shot! NX is the best kit out there..but zex is just as good! Get some tranny cooler..it will protect the tranny..and make sure you lift your fit between shifts...otherwise..the car will run lean..and booom!

you may want to invest in an A/F gauge or wideband, just in case you get addicted to spraying
Protege5Gurly

Already have an A/F gauge ... and its not just little blinkin lights like the AutoMeter one :)

Whats nice about the ZEX kit too is that if it reads that the fuel pressure is dropping it cuts nitrous flow.

Dry kits on the protege is almost a guarantee that you will kill your motor. I went with the wet kit for that rare time I might actually use it.
I also went ahead tonite and got my steering wheel gauge pod, and the electrical AutoMeter Cobalt Nitrous pressure gauge. $180 for a freakin gauge is nuts but at least I wont have to run a pressurized nitrous line to the gauge :)

Please keep us posted on how the install went, and also the performance results. I may be interested in this kit as well, I would love to know. Are you planning on doing before and after dyno runs?

no it really doesnt.. i have seen 3 integra motors blow off zex.. trust me.. the only thing we did to save them was FPR and upped the fuel.. now ur gas mileage goes to shit.. but u dont run lean.. dont believe the hype.. nos is bad.. unless.. you are anal about what gas u run in the car.. checking your plugs.. doing hella shit.. most people wont do.

or if u have a big block domestic like the mustang gt that my buddy is runnin 150 shot on..

mypfizzle, do you have any more info on what exactly the teg's were runnin? I mean dry or wt kits and what size shot cause most of the time I see ads for honda/acura kits they range from 50-100 shots and the most common ones are 75. so if they are runnin a larger shot and it is dry there could be reasons they suffer more detonation.
Plus what type of integras were they, and were they modded with jdm parts, like my buddy just added a typrR head to his GSR bottom end and his compression ratio is now higher and a higher comp ratio would be more susceptable to burnouts from FI and gas arent they?
EVen a stock teg has a higher comp ratio than our cars huh? plus most people here do a 35-55 shot, i would be fine with a 35 personally.
I agree that nos isnt something you can setup so it wont be detrimental to your engine, it obviously isnt good for it, but for gurly's use I dont see problems.
So to get back on topic, gurly looks like it is gonna turn out nice, especially with the custom mount, but i read in another post you arent doing the cage anymore? so any new ideas on where your gonna mount it? Also does your kit have the option to go to a 35 shot or is it set at 55 permanently.
Also where did u order from?

I can get other jets to lower the shot ...
We are still working with DGM to get the cage ... but I have my plan if the cage falls through :)
I got it from Import Car Parts Plus ... from their ebay auctions.

OT postwhoring..
the integra was a pair of 91 integras..
1. intake exhaust header 75 shot zex dry
2. intake exhaust stage 3 crowler cams 75 shot zex dry Fuel pressure regulator skunk 2 intake mani.. and some other goodies.
they all popped motors
#1 popped a motor cus it went lean on WOT cylinder 1 got a hole blow in it and cylinder 2 was toasted inside.
#2 car number #1 popped a second motor.. ran lean.. motor popped.. we are thinking bad plugs.. cylinder 1 + 2
#3 car number #2 blew a motor and a tranny spark plug in cylinder 2 broke a piece of porceline off in the motor.. somehow blew a hole in the motor and the tranny got a hole blown thru it.
integras are fun. after doing 3 of these motor swaps we got pretty good at it.. we can pull a old motor and slap a new one in in about 4 hours.

anyways.. 2002 mustang gt droptop- 75mm throttle body, intake, xpipe, pulleys, 150 shot zex kit
with some other goodies to get installed.. after we get em in ill post timeslips -=)

hrmm, i chose this car because it was a four cylinder. I could have gotten a mustang if i had wanted one, but something about getting good gas mileage and not haveing the same car as everyone else appealed to me

There are better uses for N2O than spraying it into your engine.
like..... whipped cream!
whipp-it, whipp-it good
