Since I live like 5 mins from the MCG I think me and some friends (mates) are going to go watch the game tomorrow night for the Richmond Collingwood game as long as we can get tickets. so who does everyone go for? (aka root for in the US but you can't say that here) anyone going to any games soon?

nobody likes collingwood.

i'm a lions fan (i am from brisbane afterall), essendon has a huge fan following, probably the most i'd say

i'm sure you'll like the game. our football games are much much faster than american football. if you get a chance, watch a game of rugby union (my game). it makes the american footballers look like pansies.

i'm in melbourne, football central. we get a channel that has nothing but footy and footy shows on. i've been watching it on tv for the past few weeks, we got here in time to see the pre-season championship with geelong and st. kilda. i've got most of the rules down, should be sweet to go see them in person. some guys at work here are collingwood fans, but they agree that nobody likes collingwood and they're the outcasts.

any of the sports down here make american football look like it's for girls. i'm not a big american football fan, i play soccer, so footy is great. american football is fun to watch every once in a while, but i don't get real excited about 2 second plays and guys with pads all over themselves. rugby seems a lot more confusing and less organised (<--note australian spelling :)) than footy does. i watch rugby on tv sometimes but still don't have that quite figured out.

crickett, on the other hand, is the most boring thing i've seen on tv yet. i can't even describe how much i dislike that sport. netball is pretty boring too (we watch games at lunch in the park) and lawn bowling is a pretty boring one too. it's a good thing you guys have footy and rugby down here for an entertaining sport. plus there are champion's league soccer games on tv at night now, we don't get many of those at home.

hahahaha...all you need now it the accent and you're set!

yeah cricket does get a bit boring, but it's kinda like baseball.

rugby has many many rules so it's hard to pick up in a short time, but afl is almost no rules :p

what does that mean??

oh yea, we went to the hawthorne/melbourne game. melbourne sucks, i don't even know how to play the game and i can see they suck.

p.s.- brisbane got lucky :p

it's something along the lines of you're going to win so go hard and win win win!!!!

well that's the best i can come up with....and yes, bris was very lucky. nice kick by the sydney knob at the end of the game!!! LOL

so you like afl? a lot of people reckon it's going to explode in america very soon.

Go the Mighty Swans.
Good game with the Lions last week, win or lose, a good game.

That said, I'm a REAL football fan (soccer....).
Parra Power here.
Liverpool in the English Premier League
Juventus in the Italian Serie A.

Netball? My little sister was a model in (many) years past and played netball in a team of her modelling friends. There used to be quite a lot of fans going to their games :)
Now THAT was sport!!

what up now brisbane!

that was a sick game to go to, st. kilda is my team (as i hear it is a lot of people's now that they don't suck)

i've also learned that rugby league is cool but i'm not a fan of union.

im a real football fan too, i grew up playing soccer but we don't get many games in the US that are worth watching (they televise mls but that's a waste of time to watch), only the really big ones from europe. i'm gonna miss all of the soccer on tv when i go back home

man that was a fantastic game! edge of the seat stuff!!!!

even though brisbane lost, i am happy to admit the better team on the night won. bris did play pretty sh!t (thank god saints didnt practice kicking goals during the week!)

and that goal umpire?

hey jred, how much longer do you have in oz?
