I guess on the blue the clear headlights look good, but I would keep my stock ones on my titanium because they match.

Don't know yet, but I think the sedans have better light output. It's a lot sharper.

Sweet. I see this is becoming a more popular mod. I just got my CAD "blacked out" P5 headlights the other day and can't wait to put them on.

As was asked before, how did you do your wiring? Did you source the lows off of the fogs?

The wiring is very easy actually. The P5 owner will need two relays, the Sedan owner will need to split a few wires that's it. There're diagrams on the forum if you do a search for "headlight swap." They're all made by "TheWire" I think. You shouldn't need to source the lowbeam off the fogs. There's a common +12 and two grounds on the sedans in that H4 harness. You need to use the common +12 for both the Low and the Hi beams. Then just connect the Low and the Hi beam negative to their correcponding harness and you're all set. You will need a multimeter. Thanks.

Much thanks, for the info. I'll look those threads up right now. That is exactly what I was hoping to do. That way I can still keep my fogs ability to come on with my fogs.

I like it, and I think that more sedan owners should do it because IMO our P5 lights do seem to throw out a bit more light, but on your car I would have gone with the Canadian / Japanese spec black ones.

i read a magazine article that said that the protege5 headlights had the farthest "reach" of any factory lamp design

Check with www.mazdaformance.com (http://www.mazdaformance.com). But, you can't order them online, you'll have to call them.

Is the swap expensive? Yes, I'm too lazy to price it.

njaremka
08-27-2007, 08:52 AM
the black lights are about $300 each new, and the chrome ones are about $200 each new

you can get them for far less used, but they are extremely hard to find

$300 apiece is kinda steep, but it looks sooooo good. :D

I called mazda directly and their list price on those part #'s is 429 each so who ever says 300 is mistaken.

I wanted to thank vodapas77 for posting these pics. I just spent like 2 hours trying to photoshop the kanook p5 headlights onto my spicy with ugly results. So I got pissed and found this post. I love the look!!! I'm thinking of retrofitting TSX projectors to them though. So I might just get US specs and paint the inside black instead of dealing with high priced canadian ones.
