Hey, I got a ticket for going 48 over today while driving home from Invermere. I have been doing some research on the internet, but can't fine a definitive answer, so I will ask it here. Does anybody know if getting a ticket in BC will add demerits to my Alberta license?
I have no idea, try posting this on Beyond.ca, someone there will know the answer for sure.

Uhhhh. they don't use the same system. BC residents are not issued demerits at all, thats what the cop said, he wasn't sure if I got demerits at all, he said I would have to ask someone here. But most of the research I have done points towards no, I do not get demerits.
Then you dont get demrrits, Phone the points place here, Called( POINTS). They do use our system for licences, Let us know.
S/P demerits
I suppose if you want to know what is on your record, you could try getting a driver's abstract from an Alberta registry. Not sure how long it takes for records to be entered in the database.

My concern would be , once the dust sets and you pay the ticket would your insurance company see that you got the ticket. And do they pull a drivers abstract. Bingo there it is a ticket . this is the system they share with us. Be careful........
I am not even sure, I payed the ticket.. my concern earlier was that I was still had my GDL, so if I had gotten a ticket I would have lost my license, but I got my full license a few days ago, so I'm not concerned anymore. Next time I check my abstract I will let ya'll know how it turned out. Im thinking because I payed the ticket on time. BC won't even bother submitting the ticket to the alberta registries, and therefore I doubt it will ever show up on my record.

Just me, in six months pull a copy of yourdriver abstract. If anything It would show up then.

PS watch out if your going into BC, Golden is the target hot spot on the long weekend in Sept.
