gas gauge problem

well my guage used to work great until my tranny swap...only thing different now is that there is no speedo hooked up.

for a while it used to just flutcuate like a 1/4 tank...now i filled the tank up and its only showing 3/4....so i pulled and checked the sending unit assembly and all that and everything looks good...any other suggestions

okay well its not the sending unit. i took out the cluster and sprayed all the sockets with electrical cleaner...when i plugged it back in the gauge read full... so the real test will be to see if it still fluctuates
