Best way to quit smoking??

Man i never thought i would become addicted to cigarettes but boy have i ever. I go thru about a pack a day now and find myself craving one after i eat, drink coffee, wake up, or just when im bored. Does nicorette really work? Gum sure doesnt, but this is just getting out of hand. I still try to run but my lungs are begging me to quit, any suggestions?

i quit because after not smoking for a day, waking up the next morning felt clean and fresh. i liked that feeling, but the cravings sucked. i found myself doing things to keep me busy. thats the best way. and instead of having a cig after eating or whatever, chew gum, or read. its gonna take patients and time, i dont really think the patch and nicortte work for all people, but try it if all else fails.

ok here is what i did..
i smoked marlboro menthols (full flavor).. uGh
so here is what i started doing..
first i bought my last pack of full flavors.. kept the pack in the glovebox of the car and had a no smoking in the car rule..
this meant when ever i wanted a cig i had to walk out to the car.
after that pack.. i bought a pack of menthol lights.. did the same thing. and started carring alot of spearmint gum..
but then my dad got sick and i started smoking all over again.. but it was working pretty well..

tell you what, like everytime i go running for lets say a 4 mile or something, my lungs feel so clean like all the smoke is gone. but then i go and ruin it by lighting up another. i dont drink or do any drugs whatsover, this is my only vice, well other than wasting too much time. but anyway ive gotta stop, im going to try that. at work when im busy im sure not craving one, but when im bored thats when i want one the most. damn philip morris and your advertising!!!

I smoked for 20 or more years and found that it was the hardest thing in the world to quit. If you are a heavy smoker(a pack a day) I would not quit cold turkey, your body will have a hard time . I used those lozengers and I have not smoked for 6 months now.
Wierd thing is I still want one.

If you have will power and don't have an extremely addictive nature, then cold turkey is the way to go. Otherwise you might need some help from a smoking cessation class, the patch or something else.

I smoked for 17 years and just put my mind to it I was going to do it and even when I was going to quit. I resisted that first cig in the morning and the rest of the day was pretty easy. After a few days I was a cranky prick, but oh well. The hardest part is the morning, before bed and after meals. But it is amazing even after a few days how much your sense of smell gets stronger again.

Good luck

I haven't taken a serious try at quitting yet, but i've been thinking about it..... The biggest problems for me are coffee and beer. Gotta smoke in the morning after that coffee, and a few beers get's me craving a butt too....

Friend of mine tried the patch but said it just made him want to have a smoke, ended up just going cold turkey. 2 months and counting...

You got that right smell and taste. I am at the point where I do not like the smell of them.
